This was one of the top highlights of our trip. If you enjoy history at all, you’ll love this tour. Our tour guide was Monique and we took a tour of the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 (which you can’t access without a registered tour). Monique was funny, knowledgeable, and thorough without being too longwinded (necessary in the heat). You could tell how much she loved the cemetery and its history, and we talked about the things we learned on the tour for the rest of out stay in New Orleans. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a deeper understanding of New Orleans. The money goes towards maintaining the cemetery and the tour itself goes quickly and is highly interesting. The only downside is how hot it gets — hotter within the cemetery walls than on the street. I would definitely recommend sunscreen, lots of water, and a hat since shade in the cemetery is at a premium.

The best thing is the money goes to save the cemetery, which is very important. I’ve been here many times but this was the first time I did the twilight tour. Amazing to be allowed in there at dark. Really enjoyed that aspect. Very disappointed in the tour guide. She seemed more interested in her personal opinions and personal relationships then giving out historical fact based information. Our group caught many historical inaccuracies that she passed on to the Public. This pains me as a historian. As the tour wrapped up we were given so called vouchers for a drink and an appetizer of our choice at a place called RF’s. This place is horrendous and they are not doing SOC any favors. I hope they notice this and team up with another business interested in helping them not hurting them. Worst treatment I have ever received in the French Quarter
