Ernest Sylvester, the host behind Ernie’s Cemetery History Tour, has been conducting tours since 2003. He has conducted Ghost, Voodoo, and Cemetery tours for Haunted History Tours longer then most tour companies have been in business. In fact, Ernie is a native of Louisiana who was born in Slidell and raised in New Orleans, Georgia, and Florida. After returning home from active duty he attended Delgado Community College. Ernie discovered the tour guide profession by chance one night after taking a Ghost tour because he did not want to babysit his niece. His curiosity about his family history in New Orleans and the surrounding areas has lead him to attend numerous seminars and read countless books. Ernie loves to share his diverse knowledge of the culture and unique history of the citys most prominent figures and events which lead him to become a licensed professional tour guide.
Ernie aims to inform visitors and tourists alike, about New Orleans in an engaging, entertaining, and factual manner. As a tour guide for Haunted History Tours , Ernie is most definitely a wealth of knowledge when it comes to whats what in this prominent American city. Above all else, he hopes to tell stories to those that walk with him that are not only surprising, but that embrace the human spirit as well.
I had a great time and learned a ton about New Orleans on my walking tour with Ernie. It was just me and one other guest–so it really felt like a conversation! Ernie does not just deliver cemetery info, but an entire NOLA history lesson. He knows the city inside and out and lives in the French Quarter. Highly recommend Ernie’s Tours. Wear sunscreen, bring water, and prepare to pay attention! The man talks fast. Thanks Ernie!
Horrible! Do not get him. I came all the way from NY. Booked him. I showed up at 10:30am. He was a no show no call. I called him over 10 times he never picked up. Emailed him. No answer. I was so upset because I had my whole day planned out. Now I don’t even know what to do. I then called him from a different number to see if he picked up and he did. He just basically said that he didn’t see anyone and left. This is so unprofessional of him. I’m very upset he would mess this part up of my trip like this. That’s just wrong.
