While on Vacation in Stowe Vermont, the bed and breakfast I was staying at had a flyer in their lobby for the Stowe Lantern Tours which are one hour long and show historical places downtown and the ghost stories behind them. Being a history buff, and loving a good ghost story my fiance and I just had to go on a tour. We met at the Visitor’s Center on Main Street which is right next to the Town Hall. Shawn our guide gave each person in the group a lantern and explained to us his background, being a former history teacher, a former sports coach, and now a ghost hunter while enjoying retirement. We walked to the cemetery where the story of the most famous ghost in the area was explained to us at her grave. Next we were given a history lesson about the mysteries behind some of the local churches and schools before being brought to an inn for another ghost story and the general store for a very cool part of local history. The tour lasted just over an hour and is good for kids too. He does the tours on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights from 8pm-9pm. I definitely will take the tour again with friends and family the next time I go to Stowe. Of course, after learning about Emily’s Bridge, I just had to go over there myself and see what all the chilling fuss is about!!!
